Schmalz Vacuum Lifts Vacuum Layer Gripper SPZ-M-CoolThe layer gripper SPZ-M-Cool was designed especially for use in freezer sectors down to -28°C. Natural rubber suction pads are used in the SPZ-M-Cool. They posses a very high level of elasticity even at low temperatures (this means that flexibility is always ensured). In this case the mechanical gripping assistance is not – as in the standard device - provided via a cylinder, but through spindle and chain drive methods, since the pneumatic cylinders can normally only be used at temperatures down to -20°C. All control elements, cabling and solder joints, etc. can only withstand such cold temperatures briefly, or not at all. For this reason all electrical components and connections are located in a heated terminal box in order to ensure absolute control safety. The SPZ series includes state-of-the-art valve and vacuum check valve technology, as well as modular gripper modules. The mechanical gripper modules' options can be controlled pneumatically or with an electric motor. According to "FMEA" [Failure Mode and Effects Analysis] the layer gripper SPZ is a modern, weight- and force-optimized design”. The modular system is appropriate for all common bus actuations. Optionally, energy-saving versions are available for all designs.
